The studies were carried out at two localities of Azad Kashmir (Poonch) viz., Rawalakot and Khurshidabad to determine the appropriate sowing time, fertilizer requirement and plant spacing of cabbage variety Golden Acre for fresh as well as seed yield. The heads to seed method and stump method were compared to determine the cost effective quality seed production. Significant differences in various parameters were noted among different sowing dates Number of leaves increased as planting delayed up to June. Maximum head size and weight were obtained from early plantation and decreased as the planting was delayed. The application of fertilizer increased the number of leaves per plant, size and weight of cabbage head significantly as compared with control treatment (No fertilizer) The best results were obtained by the application of NPK at the rate of 470, 222 and 371 kg per hectare respectively and, therefore, this doze is recommended for higher production of cabbage in Poonch Valley. The effect of different plant spacing on number of leaves per plant, head size and head weight showed significant differences among various treatments. It revealed that close spacing (20 x 40 cm) is better for obtaining higher production of cabbage. Plant height, number of branches per plant, number of flowers per plant and number of pods per plant in head to seed method were better than the stump method of seed production in locality-I whereas only plant height and number of branches per plant in locality-II were better in head to seed method. Although head to seed method proved better because of the higher seed yield as compared to stump method, the non- significant differences in number and weight of seeds per pod revealed that by using stump method more income can be generated both by selling the heads in vegetative phase and producing seed in reproductive phase.
