Estimation of new sweet maize hybrids value

In the years 1996-98 seventeen sweet maize hybrids under conditions Wielkopolska region (Poland) were estimated. The earliness, the yield of ears, the yield of first class ears, the number of ears harvested per 1 ha and per one plant, the length and diameter of cobs and the number of grains per ear were evaluated. Mean for three years, the earliest hybrid was RS-11 (harvested after 98 days) and the latest variety was RS-300 which was harvested after 115 days. The hybrids which gave the highest yield of ears with husks in whole years, were RS-2, RS-15 and RS-43. Hybrid RS-2 was characterized by the highest number of ears harvested per 1 ha
