Correlations for deposition velocity prognosis of slurry flow in a horizontal pipe

On the basis of well known Durand's formula and our and available experiment data obtained by visual observations of monodisperse slurries in horizontal pipes, correlations suitable for deposition velocity prognosis were obtained. Also 2 correlations of deposition-velocity were developed on the basis of a strictly physical concept that the carrier liquid losses some quantity of energy to maintain the solid particles floating at minimal transport velocity. The expressions provide a possibility the basic dimensionaless parameters of both solid-phase and continuous-phase influence on the value of deposition transport velocity to be manifested. Some comparisons with available measurements were done and their acceptability and restriction for engineering practice is shown
