Progress in breeding of maize hybrids cultivared in Poland within 1976-00

Determination of the progress in breeding of maize hybrids in Poland was based on the results of cultivar experiments carried out by COBORU within 1976-00. The major criteria to evaluate such a progress for hybrids grain was grain yield and grain moisture content at harvest, while for silage-grown hybrids - total dry matter yield of plants. The progress in breeding of maize hybrids was found due to higher yields of both grain and of total dry matter as well as better structure of maize yield
