A two-year field study on the very good rye complex soil was carried out. Fertilizing with nitrogen resulted in a potassium and calcium concentration increase in Italian ryegrass, whereas the change in the amount of magnesium was not significant. The applied potassium fertilization did not decrease the calcium and magnesium amount in the ryegrass. The ratio K:(Ca+Mg) in Italian ryegrass to small degree depended on nitrogen and potassium fertilization, whereas to a lager extent it was correlated with the harvest time and year of cultivation
