Effect of light quality and darkness on tulip (Tulipa gesneriana L.) in vitro generation
2000
Podwyszynska, M. | Rojek, A. (Instytut Sadownictwa i Kwiaciarstwa, Skierniewice (Poland))
Both red and white lights strongly inhibited the initial formation of callus and embryo-like structures. The highest efficiency of regeneration of embryo-like structures was obtained in darkness on medium containing the combination of TDZ and NAA. Red light had negative effect on shoot growth and development regardless of cultivar, reducing shoot number by approximately by 30 percent comparing with white light treatment. Red light did not influence further bulb formation. Cultivars varied markedly with their multiplication rate and capacity to form bulbs
