Primary and exclusive usage of herbal plants in feeding within hundreds of years lead to separation of new sphere - phytotherapy - from this range of use. Treatment with help of herbal raw materials performed a leading role in range of traditional "natural medicine" for a very long time and only inventing chemotherapy contributed to its degradation. Nowadays phytotherapy takes defined part in official medicine, mostly as adjuvant treatment, used herbal medicines must fulfil similar registration requirements as synthetic drugs. During last decaddes of previous century something like "come to roots" happened. Supplements, mostly of herbal origin in food, were noticed at the begining in Japan and USA and lately also in Europe and new branch so called "functional food" was born. Similarly in cosmetics, assortment of herbal "pro-health" components was widen. Also here people say about new range of products, so called "cosmeceuticals"
