Twelve meristic counts and eleven morphometric measurements were studied in Labeo niloticus. No significant differences in meristic counts between the two sexes were found. However, the only sexually dimorphic character of significance being the number of rays in the caudal fin, which is significantly greater (P0.05) in males than in females. Following simple regression analysis of the type (Y=a+bX) significant predictive equations between morphometric measurements and the standard length of the fish were derived for males and females. The t-test for the correlation coefficients showed that all the derived regression equations were highlly correlated and that all measurements could be derived with great reliability from any of the equations. This is also confirmed by the pair-test summarized in the correlation coefficient matrices
