Bacillus cereus is responsible for an increasing number of food borne diseases. In this study we used PCR for detection of three virulence factors, haemolytic and nonhaemolytic enterotoxins and phospholipase C, in 24 B. cereus isolates of food origin. We detected 23 strains positive for plc, 22 strains positive for nhe and 7 strains positive for hbl sequences. The variability of the same strains at thw whole genome level was monitored by AFLP typing. According to this method B. cereus isolates created two distinct groups. Strains isolated from the same dairy factory belonged to one cluster and were more genetically homogenous than the other strains that originated from various foods
