The aim of the present study was to investigate the presence, distribution and the topography of intrabursal morphological features of the adrenergic nerve structures in chickens from hatching until 10 months of age. The adrenergic nervous profiles were visualized by means of a verified histochemical method with glyoxylic acid modified by Shalev and Zhuchkova (1987). From the time of hatching to the stages of physiological involution of the organ adrenergic nerve components are concentrated in the periarterial plexuses. The solitary nerve profiles can only rarely be seen, and this is particularly evident in the marginal layers of lymphatic follicles, as well as in the subepithelial connective tissue layer. All nerve components were observed at the highest density in the period between 12 and 16 weeks of age, during the stage of structural maturity of the bursa cloacalis. After this period a gradual reduction of the adrenergic nerve structures was observed. Moreover, the bursa cloacalis of a 10-month-old chicken showed single nerve structures located mainly in the perivascular topography
