[Theoretical bases of sunflower breeding and practical use of the heterosis effect]

The thesis deals with the sunflower production process connected with heterosis effect in hybrids with the aim to reveal regularities of the heterosis manifestation in the hybrids, to find out biogenesis of fatty acids in mutants, to create new initial material, lines and hybrids of sunflower. The innovation of the study lies in the fact that a strategy is developed of creating the linear material for obtaining hybrids with various fatty acid content, with adaptability potential and resistance against the main pathogens. As a result, the differentiation of the linear material according to the adaptability potential is carried out as well as a new methodological approach in sunflower heterosis breeding is substantiated. Twelve hybrids of various groups of maturity are introduced into the agricultural production. High quality seed production is established in various regions of Ukraine
