Caves are well known for science and public mind because of their natural beauties and famous palaeoanthropological and archeological discoveries. They are also palaeontological treasures. Animals have sought shelter in caves since the beginnings of the Ice Ages, and bones and teeth of fossil vertebrates are often found in the cave deposits. Quaternary vertebrates are excavated from the sediments of more then 20 cave localities in Serbia (Yugoslavia). Fossil faunal assemblages are differing form recent fauna by its composition and palaeoecological features.
