Determination of the suitable moment to irrigate is the important condition for an effectiveplant water use. The beginning of irrigation was determined by tensiometers and gypsum blocks, placed in the root zone and infrared thermometer. The temperature difference between canopy and ambient temperature was the indicator for the plant water regime. The yield and the water consumption were determined in the three variants. The results from IRT measurement were like as the other two methods, but it is easier to work and able to make automatic systems. This shows that the IRT method can be used as an indicator for irrigation.
