The Begecka Jama Nature Park is situated in the wester part of the Vojvodina Province, Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro) - the South Backa, on the territory of Novi Sad city. The area spreads on the inundation flat along the left bank of the Danube river, at 1276 km of its course. In the relative small area of the Begecka Jama Nature Park the elements of rivers, lake and marsh ecosystems are present, and they are surrounded with the forests dominated by poplar plantations. The area is inhabited by a lot of plant and animal species is important to stress presence of locally and globally threatened species whic are protected the law as nature rarities, and which are in the Red Lists of the flora and fauna of Serbia. The diversity of ecosystems and species of the Begecka Jama Nature Park is a result of the geomorphologic and hydrological characteristics of the area, nature changes during the time, as well as intensive human influence. Begecka Jama, as a flooded area of the Danube river, is very suitable spawning ground for a lot of fish species. It belongs to the cyprinid region water dominated by cyprinid species.
