Epiphytic lichens as bioindicator of air quality in Leskovac (southern Serbia) [Serbia and Montenegro]

Bioindication of air pollution on Leskovac has not been investigated up to now. By research of epiphytic lichens in Leskovac it is confirmed 35 lichen taxa from 17 genera. By calculating IAP (index of atmospheric purite), 3 zones of different air pollution level was established. The most sensitive species are Melanelia glabra, M. exasperatula. M. subaurifera and Physconia enteroxanta. The most tolerant are Phaeophyscia orbicularis, Physcia adscendens, Xanthoria parietina, Candelariella aurella and Lecanora argentata.
