Phytoplankton analysis and trophic status of Sjenica [water] reservoir [Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro]

In this article the results of analysis on phytoplankton, the concentration of nutrients and chlorophyll a are presented. The sampling has been carried out in September 2002, on the three spots of free water of the lake, on three different dephts. It has been concluded that the phytoplankton is very poor concerning the variety. The greatest numerability and biomass of phytoplankton is noted in the middle of the lake, and smallest at the barrage. The trophic status of Sjenica water reservoir can be characterized as mesotrophic-eutrophic. Saprobic analysis of phytoplankton shows that the water quality matches oligosaprobic zone.
