The paper discusses economic evaluation of biodiversity in the context of a forest sector macromodel that is presently being designed. The designing of this model was started in 2003 with the aim of creating simulations for weighting macroeconomic indicators (emplovement, GDP, tax receipts, consumption, foreign trade) and indicators of sustainable development (carbon balance, biodiversity, social capital) necessary in economic decision-making. As the measure of biodiversity, the model concept includes the probability of the survival of endangered species of various categories. Changes in this probability are connected with the intensity of forest use as well as numerous measures for forest protection. The outcome of the study reported here was the construction of a dynamic simulation model, which after the determination of the relevant parameters can be used in the environment component of the forest sector macromodel
