Since the inception of the crossbreeding programme by the government of India, an attempt has been made to lower the age at first calving (AFC) through selective breeding experiments. Zebu cattle have a significantly higher AFC, thereby their productive life is lowered in comparison to their Taurus counterparts. In this study the genetic parameters such as means and coefficient of heritability and the effects of sire, year and period have been studied.
