Delayed onset of puberty is a common problem among local cattle of Assam, which may be due to various factors, either acting alone or in association with other factors. and one of them being deficiencies of certain minerals in the blood. Variation in the optimal levels of some of the trace elements have been found to be associated with different reproductive disorders. But the information on the circulatory profiles of trace elements in cyclic and anoestrus heifers of local cattle in Lower Brahmaputra Valley of Assam is very scanty. Therfore, the present experiment was carried out to elicit information on trace mineral level in serum of heifers.
