There is inadequate control of Phalaris minor in some areas of Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh. With the fast development in mechanization, rice is harvested with combines and left over straw is either burnt in the field or incorporated in the field before sowing of the wheat crop. The efficacy of root active herbicides may decline because of increased adsorption of herbicides with ash or organic matter.
