Responses of planting date alterations on scented rice varieties - an economic appraisal

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the response of aromatic rice varieties Pusa Basmati-1 and Kasturi and RNR 18833 at Students' Farm, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh during kharif 1998. The results indicated that the variety RNR 18833 was more profitable than Pusa Basmati-l or Kasturi. The optimum planting time was mid July for maximum gross and net returns I per hectare as well as benefit: cost ratio. Delayed planting until mid August subStantially reduced the profitability.
