The major histocompatibility complex of cattle was designated as Bovine lymphocyte antigen locus (BoLA). The BoLA system is located on chromosome 23 and codes for highly polymorphic cell surface glycoprotein involved in antigen presentation to T cells. The two regions of this gene complex viz., BoLA-A and BoLA-D have been recognized as coding for class I and class II antigens respectively, The advent of PCR technique opened a new vista in MHC polymorphism at the specific region of gene of interest. The present work was undertaken to study the polymorphism at BoLA-DRB3 gene in certain Indian zebu cattle breeds using PCR based RELP procedure.
