Nitrate poisoinings in livestock is common due to consumption of plants rich in nitrate contents. Methaemoglobinemia caused by nitrates in drinking water is reported to adversely affect the cardiac activity in rabbits. As regards livestock, information on electrocardiographic changes in nitrate toxicity are lacking. The present study in goat was undertaken to observe the adverse effect of nitrate induced anoxia on the activities of heart contributing to the cause of death.
