Occurance of tuberculosis at an organised cattle farm

In the present study on an organized farm of Uttar Pardesh, of the 4696 cattle at risk 1204 youngstock and adults cattle were subjected to tuberculin test during three years (1996-99). Out of these 169 (14.04%) showed tuberculin positive reaction. Amongest 4696 cattle. 107 (2.28%) developed clinical disease and 70 (1.49%) showed the tuberculosis lesions on postmortem examination. Out of 277 necropsies conducted during the four years (1995-99) period, the proportional mortality rate of 3.08, 35.0 and 48.6 per cent were recorded in calves, youngstock and adults cattle, respectively. The proportional mortality rate were highest in 5 to 7 years age group.
