Experiments were carried out during 1996-2001 on an Endohypogleyic-Luvisols (LV-n-w-cc) soils. The following green manure crops were investigated : clover, its aftermath, vetch and oats mixture, annual ryegrass, oil radish and white mustard. It was determined that when fertilizing potatoes with green manure crops and their residues the soil received ranging up to 3.8 times organic contents : 15.8 t/ha of dry matter with clover, 6.9 t/ha with clover aftermath and 4.1-8.3 t/ha with annual green manure. Humus content in the soil increased 2.9-6.0. Economic assesment of the investigation measures suggests that a higher amount of the income was obtained through annual green manure crops compared with clover.
