UN FAO is concerned that if producers will try to get the best possible cow production and income, the number of cow varieties will reduce. For example, in Holstein Black and White breed the same breeders are used all over the world. This reduces diversity of genes and leads to inbreeding. The author stresses a necessity to keep Latvian Brown breed which are good quality animals with high production rates.
