The lecture on the cytology-cytogenetics of major insect pests of agricultural crops in the Philippines is an initial attempt or introduction to a long-term project to collate together all research studies conducted along this area. Cytological features include those of blood cells or hemocytes of the eggplant fruit and shoot borer, Leuconodes orbonalis Guenee, spermatogenetic nuclear forms of sweet potato weevil, Cylas formicarius F. and meiotic indices of eight different insect pests. On the other hand, cytogenetic characteristics of insect pests include the Karyotypic features such as chromosome number, sex-determining mechanism, chromosome type and observations.
