Malampaya deepwater gas-to-power project for sustainable development

This paper discusses the initiatives undertaken by the Shell Exploration BV (SPEX) in the Philippines in various communities in order to pursue its aspirations of sharing benefits to the people and the environment. The corporation's programs on sustainable development are embodied in the Sustainable Development Council, which it created for such purpose. It partnered with various groups such as the World Wildlife Fund, the University of Asia and the Pacific [Pasig City, Philippines] the University of the Philippines at Los Banos [College, Laguna, Philippines], and local communities in implementing various projects. In employment, enhance health, provide basic services, alternative livelihood, and restore and enhance the environment. The company also provides scholarships grants under its Agricultural Skills Program and Technical Skills Program. With its partner groups, Shell grants support for research towards better understanding and practice of sustainable development. This paper provides information on Shell's various projects in sites such as the Malampaya Sound, Mindoro, and Subic [Philippines]
