Farm yield survey in district Dir [Pakistan]

A survey was conducted to study the cropping pattern, technology adopted by farmers, yield of different crops and problems of the farmers. The survey was conducted in January 2000 in the primary target area of Dir District Development Project (DDDP) funded by United Nations Organization (UNO). The survey shows that wheat, maize and onion were cultivated by, 100% of the sample farmers. Maize-wheat cropping pattern is on the top with 71% of the farmers using maize-wheat cropping pattern. About 59% of the farmers are using tractors for agricultural operations. Urea and DAP is used by 74% and 52% farmers respectively, 51% of the farmers were using farmyard manure. Total income of onion, tomato; potato, okra, wheat, maize, barley and rice is Rs. 83304/-, 70556/-. 90482/-75715/-, 20962/-, 26105/-, 24406/- and 44744/-, respectively from 77% irrigated land.
