2003
Zafarullah, M. (NWFP Agricultural Univ., Peshawar (Pakistan). Dept. of Extension Education and Communication)
There are many extension approaches for rural development generally and agriculture particularly. However, the bottom up approach (people's participation) is the most effective. According to this approach local people are involved in the decision making process. This research article investigates the effectiveness of Farmers Interest Group (FIG), a bottom-up approach for transfer of improved agricultural technology, which was conducted in 1992. Results indicate that the absolute rate of adoption was quite high. However, FIG approach was not able to substitute the formal extension education approach for transfer of agricultural technology.
