The present study was undertaken to determine the effect of several herbicides. Butachlor-58.5% EC. Thiobencarb 10% G. Butachlor-60%, EC and Oxadiazon 12% EC on weed control and paddy yield. These herbicides decreased weed densities and increased paddy yields in the trials. These adaptive trials were laid out at 5 locations of the rice growing area of the Malakand Division viz. Baghdheri Khawazakhela, Batkhela, Thana and Timergara. Trials were laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. All herbicides were applied after rice transplanting. All herbicides except oxadiazon at most locations controlled both broad leaf and grassy weeds. Digitaria sanguinalis and Echinochloa crusgalli were the most abundant weeds at all locations. Herbicide and hand weeding increased paddy yield significantly over un-weeded control at most locations.
