A field study was conducted during 2000 in Hassanabdal area to find the effect of sewage/ tubewell water irrigation on the accumulation concentration of heavy metal contents in okra fruit and spinach leaves. For this purpose three adjacent fields were selected for each crop and separately irrigated by sewage water, tubewell water and mixture of sewage & tubewell water. Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) and spinach (Spinacia oleracea) were planted in spring and winter respectively. Both vegetables were given a basal dose of 100 & 50 Kg/ha N & P respectively. At the end of experiment plant samples were collected and analyzed for heavy metals like Cd, Ni, Pb and Cr and micronutrient like Fe, Cu, Zn and Mn using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The data showed that the heavy metal and micronutrient contents in both vegetables were present in significantly higher amount in order of sewagesewage and tubewell water greater than tubewell water except Cu and Fe which showed variation for both the crops. Spinach leaves showed higher accumulation of heavy metals and micronutrient as compared to okra fruit.
