Studies on the effect of farmyard manure and mineral feertilizers on fertility and productivity of soil
2003
Sienkiewicz, S,
The aim of the study was to compare two systems of soil fertilization applied in crop rotations, i.e. a system based on farmyard manure application on the background of mineral fertilizers with a system based only on mineral fertilizers. Twelve-year-long field trials were performed between 1986 and 1997 on Orthic Luvisol developed from light loam. The dissertation presents results on the modification of soil fertility, effects of fertilization on yield and chemical composition of crops and balance of macronutrients. The study has demonstrated generally positive effects on soil fertility and productivity. Organic manure improved soil properties, especially in the ploughing layer. On the basis of the results it has been concluded that maintenance of high fertility and productivity of medium textured soil under Polish climatic conditions demands organic manure application
