The effect of increasing seed density and nitrogen fertilization on cv. Maja triticale yield volume and structure was studied in 1993-95. Under the effect of higer seed density, the number of spikes per 1 cubic m increased while the number of kernels per spike decreased. Nitrogen fertilization was the only factor that differentiated the weight of one thousand kernels and kernel yield. Based on the results of the trials a recommended seed density norm has been established as 300 kernels per square m. Considering the volume of kernel yield, nitrogen rates applied can range between 90 and 120 kg N/ha
