Exploration and collection of aromatic plants in Thailand

Study on exploration and collection of aromatic plants in Thailand were carried out through natural habitat and herbaria studying during 1991 to 1998. The results showed that a large number of 650 species were reported in 76 distinct families and 296 species are potential for agriculture. The plants are utilised by indiginous people in various purposes such as vegetables, fruit crops, plant as pest control, ornamental, medicinal, dye, handicraft, fibre and other multipurpose plants. Still, most of them are wild plants and trend to be interested in agricultural use for the future.
