Study on leaf blight of phlap-phlueng-tong (Crinum asiaticum var. aurea) found that the lesion varied from small (1-2 mm in diameter) hollow, reddish-brown color, to a size of 5 * 8 cm, round, ellipsoidal or irregular, and greyish brown color. According to morphological studies, the causal fungus was Drechslera sp., with geniculate conidiophore; obclavate conidia formed on pseudopleurogenous conidiophore. Artificial inoculation produced disease symptoms within 2 days. On water agar, conidia of Drechslera sp. germinated within 1 hr, germination percentage was 87.50. The fungus grew very well on PDA, CMA and OMA. The best sporulation appeared on V-8A and OMA under fluorescent, NUV, and darkness. The colony of the fungus grown under NUV and darkness was smooth, except that the colony on CMA had some aerial hyphae and the colony on CMA under fluorescent had the most aerial hyphae.
