[State of works on soil monitoring in Ukraine]

Considered are the main provisions of the concept of monitoring of Ukraine's soils providing for a space-time system of observations for assessing and forecasting the soil's conditions. Characterized are several kinds of the monitoring : background (reference, standard), production (basic, current), crisis, special, scientific (forecast) ones. A list of the institutions carrying out the space-time soils' monitoring, results of work and the further tasks thereof are provided. Significant changes in soil properties over the years of their use are stated. Substantiated are the ways for improving the methodology, organization and content of the monitoring studies, forming a permanent ecological observations network and harmonizing the observations with the European requirements
