[On the issue of subsoil water pollution with 137Cs and 90Sr in different soil hydrological conditions]

Investigating the radionuclide pollution of subsoil waters was conducted at the level of the first water-carrying horizon at a distance of 10 km from the zone of Chornobyl NPP. On the territory, which is typical as regards to geomorphology thereof and alternatively crossed by forest areas and no-forest ones, observed is a different densities of the radiation pollution. At this place the level of subsoil and surface waters pollution with 90Sr significantly exceeds the level of 137Cs (correspondingly 2.2:20.7). The 137Cs content in subsoil waters does not exceed the permissible level for drinking water (2 Bq per litre) in the course of many years. The analysis showed that the pollution of swamps and the drain channels' water is higher than that of subsoil waters by 2-7 times.
