Nitrogen fertilizer recommendation for the corn yield on some important soils of the corn belt area in Thailand using the CERES-maize model was studied. The predicted yield seems to be promising because the main factors affecting plant growth are taken into account. From the results of this model evaluation, it can be concluded that in Phetchabun and Lop Buri provinces, corn should be grown on Chai Badan (Cd), and Pak Chong (Pc) soils. Lop Buri (Lb) and Pak Chong (Pc) soils are recommended for the cultivation of corn in Nakhon Sawan province. In Nakhon Ratchasima province, Pak Chong (Pc) soil is recommended for corn. The nitrogen or organic carbon content of the soils should be determined for the soils to be investigated and the relevant values inserted into the CERES-maize model. As a consequence, the recommended fertilizer application rate, predicted yield, maximum gross income or benefit and planting date are generated by the CERES-maize model. The amount of phosphate and potash fertilizer are presumed to be sufficient and provided in the program.
