Vibriosis in laboratory reared seahorses (Hippocampus kuda)

Fifty-five, 3 to 12 month old cultured seahorses (Hippocampus kuda) showing signs of sickness or death were examined and dissected to seek the cause. Liver and kidneys were collected to check for bacterial pathogens. Most of the bacterial pathogens found were Vibrio sp. such as V. alginolyticus, V. anguillarum, V. vulnificus and V. fluvialis, as well as other Vibrio sp., and were belived to have been the cause of the seahorses repid death.
