According to the prediction of United State Department of Agriculture (USDA), global population growth rate is high and global population will be 6.49 billion in 2005 and 6.89 billion in 2010. In the next five years, global economy will be recovered, but might be decreased in period of 2006-2010. In general, import will be increased in both developed and developing countries as compared with that during 1991-1997. As far as price of agri-products is concerned, there will be increase trend but slowly due to the effects of export and commercial activities. Hence, Vietnam has to have such solutions as adjustment in scale and patterns of production, products, markets to suite to global markets in rice, coffee, rubber, cashew, tea, vegetables and fruit crops rearrangement of planting area, establishment of large-scale commercial production areas, investment for intensification, rapid transfer of scientific and technological advances into production, with particular attention to new varieties and advanced processing technologies.
