Thin layer grain dryer: Parameters of thin layer drying for cashew nut

Thin layer grain dryer was developed and constructed. The hot air temperature was simi-automatically controlled in range of 35-75 deg C. The air flow rate was adjusted by a butterfly value for range of 1.0-2.0 m/s. Physical parameters of cashew nut under investigation are:-Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC), apparent density, percentage of void volume in the bed and diffusion coefficient. It was concluded that the EMC fits Hendersonis model. However an empirical model is the best model to describe the drying phenomenan.
