Seed-borne sunflower parasites
Masirevic, S.(Naucni institut za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo, Novi Sad (Serbia and Montenegro))
The sunflower is attacked by more than 40 different pathogens, 10 of which are the causal agents of economically important diseases of this crop on a global scale. Sunflower seeds are attacked by fungi, bacteria and viruses, with fungi being the most numerous of the three types of organisms. Many of the parasites are borne by the seeds and spread to uninfected regions or other countries in this manner. The present paper discusses seed-borne sunflower parasites and the possible ways of their control.
