In this work was examined overall heavy metal content and biochemical activity of the soil planted with potatoes of sorts Lizeta and Latona. Examined soil is alluvial type, subtype carbonic oglejana. In this soil was determined overall content of Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn, and Mn. Also, in this soil was determined activity of the enzymes of dehydrogenase and nitrogenase. Overall content of the examined heavy metals is below maximally permitted content of heavy metals in agricultural soils (Webber, 1984). The highest activity of dehydrogenase was determined at the end of the vegetation, and the lowest at the beginning of the vegetation for both sorts of potato. The highest activity of nitrogenase was determined in the middle and at the end of the vegetation, and the lowest at the beginning of the vegetation for both sorts of potato.
