Seven Novi Sad corn hybrids from FAO maturity groups 300 to 700 were tested at the experimental field of the Irrigation Department of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia and Montenegro). The field is located on the loamy chernozem soil. The trial, conducted in the period 2000-2002, included the variant of natural provision of water and the irrigated variant in which the zone of corn rhizosphere (to 60 cm) was maintained above lentocapillary moisture, i.e., at 60-65 of field water capacity (FWC). In the dry year of 2000, 280 mm of water were added in six irrigations. In 2001, characterized by abundant rainfall, 100 mm of water were added in two irrigations. In 2002, which was dry again, 240 mm of water added in four irrigations. The average yield of the tested hybrids was 10.14 t/ha in the non-irrigated variant, the actual yields ranging from 8.84 t/ha in NS-300 to 11.66 t/ha in NS-501. The annual averages went from 8.34 t/ha in the dry year of 2000 to 11.74 t/ha in the rainy year of 2001. In the irrigated variant, the three-year average yield was 13.24 t/ha, the actual yields ranging from 11.74 in NS-300 to 14.11 in NS-540. The annual averages ranged from 11.78 to 14.62 t/ha. the actual yields ranging from 10.05 to 15.64 t/ha.
