Integral control of Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. in the area of the city of Novi Sad [Serbia (Serbia and Montenegro)]

Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., ruderal weedy species, transferred from neighboring countries to the territory of Vojvodina (Serbia and Montenegro) has already become widely spread and making huge, compact communities in sandy and ruderal habitats. In the period 2002-2003 in the urban environment conditions evaluations of ragweed abundance and coverage, determination of the most efficient toxic control measures, use of sanitary and environmentally friendly herbicides, as well as the use of mechanical control measures was performed. Pathogenicity of fungi Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Fusarium sporotrichoides, Fusarium semitectum and Fusarium equiseti was established by artificial inoculations of Ambrosia artemisiifolia L. seedlings, young plants and stem cuttings.
