The paper shows different methods of controlling Varroa destructor. Apart from several decades of research, an efficient method for destroying varroa has not been found yet. However, there are several basic methods of fighting it, the most efficient of which are chemical, biotechnical, method of selection of resistant lines of bees, etc. The chemical organic acids is a relatively new concept of fighting varroa, and in our conditions of apiculture, apart from biotechnical methods, it has given good results in the decrease of the number of varroa in bee colonies. In recent years new biological preparations against Varroa destructor have been developed in the world, based on the use of pathogenous fungi and bacteria, with variable efficiency. In the ensuing period, improvement of these preparations is expected, both due to its successful application and the development of ecological concept of apiculture.
