The possibility for broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera) growth in Zeta valley [Montenegro (Serbia and Montenegro)]

The main aim of investigation was introduction of broccola on area of Zeta Valley, the area where broccola is not well known. The possibility of broccola growing on open field was investigated during two-year period and results are presented in this paper. The lenght of vegetation, the harvest dates of top and side inflorescences, their characteristics and total yield were investigated. The weight, diameter and compact of inflorescences and lenght of blossom were measured. The results obtained showed that there are favourable agro-ecological conditions for broccola growth, particulary in winter season when there is lack of fresh vegetable on the market. All three cultivars of broccoli showed good results and can be recommended for growth on area of investigation.
