Performances of agricultural sector in transition

On the paper, the authors present, at first, a picture of the CEEC agricultural sector in the pre-accession period, at the beginning of 90s, using the analysis of production structure and agricultural policy measures that characterized centrally-planned economy. In the following decade, the agricultural situation in the CEEC - 10 is quite different. New goals of the agricultural policy are focused, in accordance with EU CAP reforms, to the improvement of production efficiency and competitiveness, as well as to the environment protection and rural development. Between the picture at the beginning of 90s and the reform results observed after 2000, dynamic transition reform evolved and its experiences are precious for our country that just start moving in this direction. Therefore, the elements of transition reform in agriculture and accompanied new agricultural policy goals have a special attention in this paper.
