Application of logistics in woodworking industry

The aim of this contribution was to show the successful application of logistic principles in the Czech firm Drevovyroba. This medium sized firm is specialized on the production of wooden handles for hand tools and special milling and turning of semi-finished articles. After an analysis of different operations, the main problems and time-consuming operations were determined. Three priorities were proposed on this basis as follows: 1) to optimise the number and structure of trade partners; 2) to shorten or eliminate the course of all activities not increasing the value perceived by customers; 3) to improve the management.
